Alexandra Palace & Park

Families relaxing on grass outside Alexandra Palace

Alexandra Palace, seated atop the 80-hectare Alexandra Park in Haringey, North London, is an 11,000 square metre exhibition complex which also houses a Victorian theatre, closed for eighty years but which has now reopened, and hosts a range of comedy, music, and theatrical productions. The theatre restoration project aimed to maintain the Victorian charm and character and the Evening Standard described being in the auditorium as “akin to being in a forgotten and crumbling Roman temple, complete with statues and faded red and gold wall paintings.” As well as the exhibition halls, the palace complex includes an ice rink, and various catering outlets, while the surrounding Alexandra Park features a pitch and putt (golf) course, and a number of ‘Go Ape’ rope bridge obstacle courses set high in the trees, together with a climbing wall. The park also contains woodland trails, a children’s play area, a skate park, and a boating lake.
